About Fire and Burn Rescue
Fire gives very little time, and these clips show people who used it well. Drivers and helpers empty burning sleeper buses, neighbours wake sleeping families, and shop and petrol pump staff put out small fires before they spread. Each clip shows a different kind of fire, so each one teaches a slightly different lesson.
What can you safely do? Raise the alarm, get everyone out and stay out; nobody should go back for belongings. Call 101 or 112 from a safe distance. Stay low under smoke, close doors behind you and use the stairs, not the lift. Use an extinguisher only on a small fire, with a clear way out behind you; if in doubt, leave. If a vehicle is burning, move everyone well away, keep clear of the fuel tank, do not open the bonnet and call 101 or 112. For a burn, hold it under cool running water for 20 minutes. Do not use ice, toothpaste or butter.
Some people in these clips took risks we do not recommend, such as driving a burning bus away, and our notes say so. The videos are not fire training and do not replace a fire drill or an extinguisher course. We choose public YouTube videos that match a reported incident and can be played here, and we avoid graphic footage. Our guides on fire escape plans, surviving a fire and sleeper bus safety are linked at the bottom of this page.
