Surat Kiran Chowk Roadside Firecracker Stall Fire: Blasts and Flying Rockets at a Busy Junction in Diwali Week, No Casualties Reported; Cause and Permissions Not Known

On the morning of Tuesday, 3 November 2026, firecrackers displayed for sale on mats at a roadside near Kiran Chowk in Surat caught fire. Divya Bhaskar says the fire in one stall spread to another, a series of loud blasts followed, rockets flew in all directions and passers-by and drivers of parked vehicles panicked; some moved vehicles away at risk to themselves. Surat Municipal Corporation's fire engines put it out with water and it did not reach nearby homes or shops. Gujarat Samachar says the cause is unknown. No casualties are reported. Whether the stalls had permission, how many stalls burned and what started the fire are not reported.
