On 7 November 2025 police arrested the owner of V Kaveri Travels, Vemuri Vinod Kumar, who is the second accused in the FIR. A Kurnool court granted him bail the same day, Kurnool Range DIG Koya Praveen said. Police said the owner had knowingly converted the seater bus into a sleeper coach, and that the sleeper layout blocked the emergency exit and other fire-safety features. The driver, Miriyala Lakshmaiah, was in judicial custody.
