Local risks in Bhiwani

Fires in the old market and godown lanes

In the early hours of 28 October 2026, a fire destroyed the warehouse of a furniture showroom in Naya Bazar, near Hansi Gate. About 12 to 13 fire tenders worked for five to six hours in a narrow lane, and nobody was reported hurt. In August 2025 a fire at a bag house in Hansi Gate spread to neighbouring shops, six establishments were hit and ten fire vehicles were sent. Police pointed to a short circuit. We cover the October fire in a case study.

Godowns beside shops and homes

In April 2025 a hardware godown in Bhiwani caught fire, reported at 5.30 am. Timber, plywood, cartons and hardware stored beside wiring burn fast, and a lane too narrow for a fire tender slows the response.

Waterlogging after short, heavy rain

On 23 June 2025 a 15-minute downpour left most streets in Bhiwani town waterlogged, with water entering some houses and shops and traffic slowed to a crawl. Residents blamed weak drainage. In July 2025 villages in Bhiwani and Hisar districts were waterlogged, with more than 6,000 acres of fields under water across the two. No deaths were reported in either.

Road crashes outside the town

On a Thursday night in July 2025, a car overturned near Amirwar and Budhera villages in Bhiwani district, killing four of the five people in it. The report names no road and no cause. Slow down after dark on village roads, and wear a seat belt on every trip.

Hot summers and cold winters

The district describes temperatures from 2 to 45 degrees Celsius and scanty rainfall of about 483 mm, mostly in July and August. Keep water and shade in summer, and keep heaters and blankets apart in winter.
