On 8 December 2022, a leaking cooking gas cylinder in a store room caught fire and exploded at a wedding house in Bhungra village, Jodhpur district, and part of the house collapsed. By 10 December the toll was 12 with 42 in treatment, more than half of them critical.

Flooded lanes after a short, heavy shower

On 24 July 2026, a sudden downpour put the lanes of the Walled City, including Nayak Bada and Juni Mandi, and several major roads and underpasses under water within minutes. Residents said drains had not been cleaned before the monsoon.

Pre-monsoon heat

In May 2026, Jodhpur recorded more than 44 C, and later reports spoke of maximums above 46 C in parts of the Jodhpur division with hot nights above 30 C. Heat like this puts the old, the young and outdoor workers at risk.
