Take these numbers with you

Print the Shivpuri emergency card for the fridge or the front door, and cut out the wallet cards. It holds 112, 101, the ambulance and police numbers. This guide has no local numbers yet, so there are blank lines to write your local fire station, police station and nearest hospital, and your family contacts.

Local risks in Shivpuri

Big katha and fair pandals at Karera

Around 3 pm on 25 October 2026, a fire broke out in the upper part of the very large dome of the Shri Ram Katha pandal at Karera. Police and security staff put it out with extinguishers and a ladder in about 15 minutes, and no one was hurt, but reports differ on whether hundreds of devotees were already seated and a short circuit is only suspected. We cover it in a case study.

Shop fires in towns with no fire station

At about 4 am on 3 April 2026, a fire at the main square of Pohri damaged a hotel, a grocery shop and a mobile shop. Pohri has no fire brigade, so the engines came from Shivpuri and the flames grew before they arrived, with losses of several lakh rupees and no casualty.

The floods of August 2021

On 2 and 3 August 2021, Shivpuri district got about 455 mm of rain in 38 hours, roughly half its yearly average. The Sindh, Kuno, Parvati and Mahuar rivers rose, more than 10,000 people were trapped, about 8,000 were rescued with Army help and phone networks went down.

Monsoon flooding again in July 2025

On 30 July 2025, more than 100 people were still trapped in floodwater in the Kolaras area and the district asked the Army for help from Jhansi. Nearly 30 schoolchildren were stranded for about 24 hours in Pachavali village, so village schools and low roads need a flood plan too.
