Fuel fire and blast at a road site
On the morning of 24 October 2026, workers were reportedly pouring diesel from cans into a vehicle at a hill-road site near Pinakota in Ananthagiri mandal when fire broke out, spread to a second vehicle and a two-wheeler, and ended in a powerful explosion that killed seven people, among them a passing teacher. Early reports blamed gelatin sticks, but the district police chief said none were found and called it an accidental fire; we cover it in a case study.
