Take these numbers with you

Print the Dhar emergency card for the fridge or the front door, and cut out the wallet cards. It holds 112, 101, the ambulance and police numbers. This guide has no local numbers yet, so there are blank lines to write your local fire station, police station and nearest hospital, and your family contacts.

Local risks in Dhar

Night crashes and car fires on the four-lane

At about 11.30 pm on 25 October 2026, a car carrying five friends went off a culvert on the Lebad-Nayagaon four-lane near Sadalpur and caught fire. Four of them died inside and one was badly burnt; the cause is still under investigation, as we cover in a case study.

Overloaded goods vehicles

On the evening of 29 April 2026, a pickup carrying about 35 labourers home from Baggad lost control near the Chikliya crossing, overturned and hit an SUV coming the other way. At least 12 people died, most of them women, and later reports put the toll higher.

Bus off a bridge on the Narmada

On the morning of 18 July 2022, a state transport bus from Indore broke through the railing of a bridge between Khalghat and Thigari and fell into the Narmada. At least 13 people died and 15 were pulled out alive, and the strong current made the rescue harder.

Fires in the Pithampur industrial belt

In the early hours of 22 April 2026, a fire with a series of explosions at a waste disposal plant in Pithampur Sector 3 spread to two neighbouring companies, and on 10 October 2026 a scrap warehouse fire in the same sector spread to nearby sheds. No deaths were reported in either, but engines had to be called from Indore, Dhar, Dhamnod and Mhow.

Flood, fire and chemical hazards in the district plan

The district disaster management page carries safety documents for flood, earthquake, fire, chemical hazards, drought, cold wave and lightning, along with a map of flood-affected villages and bridges. It also lists a document of road accident black spots, so ask the collectorate for the stretch you drive daily.
