Local risks in Hardoi

Station waiting-room fire on a crowded day

At about 7 pm on 25 October 2026 sparks from a switch set the AC waiting room at Hardoi railway station on fire, on the day of the PET exam when the station was full of candidates. Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police staff cut the power and put it out with extinguishers, and nobody was reported hurt; we cover it in a case study.

Auto and truck crashes on district roads

On 15 May 2025 an autorickshaw hit a dumper truck near Hardaul Mau on the way from Bangarmau to Sandila, and six people died. The truck fled the spot, and shared autos packed with passengers are a repeat risk on these roads.

Wedding-season night crashes

Around 3 am on 31 May 2025 a speeding car carrying wedding guests overturned into a ditch near the Bhuppa Purva turn, and five people died, including a six-year-old child. Late-night returns from functions on rural roads are the pattern to watch.

Monsoon floods

In late August 2025 Hardoi was among 22 Uttar Pradesh districts hit by floods, when 768 villages were inundated across the state. Low villages and cut-off roads are the usual trouble in a wet year.

Cyclone-linked rain and storm notices

The District Disaster Management Authority put out a notice on the effects of a cyclonic system over the Bay of Bengal, valid from 27 October to 1 November 2026. Heavy rain and wind can bring down wires and trees even this far inland.
