Firozabad Fire and Emergency Safety Guide

Firozabad is the glass and bangle town of Uttar Pradesh, with furnaces, small factories and crowded homes-cum-shops packed into narrow lanes. This guide puts the emergency numbers and the main local hazards on one page, with dated examples from the district. A published list of the district's fire stations could not be found, so for a fire call 101 or 112.

Local risks in Firozabad

Firecracker stores inside homes

On the night of Monday 16 September 2024, around 10.30 pm, a blast in a firecracker godown-cum-factory in the Naushera area of Shikohabad brought the walls down on the family living inside. Five people died, including two children and a woman, and 11 were injured; no cause was stated.

Shop-below, home-above buildings

On Tuesday 29 November 2022, a fire in a building with an electronics and furniture shop on the ground floor and the family home above killed at least six members of the family, three of them children. Police said a short circuit was the likely cause.

Factory fires and thin water supply

On Sunday 4 October 2026, a large fire broke out at a tyre-retreading factory in Naushehra, and tenders came from across the district. The fire officer reported a slight water shortage because the factory pump was damaged, and the cause was not known. The factory had also had a fire earlier this year.

Dengue and full hospital wards

In August and September 2021, 41 people had died by 2 September, 36 of them children, in a dengue-led fever outbreak that spread through waterlogged, dirty areas. More than 200 children were admitted to the medical college and government beds ran short.

Night village processions on through roads

On the night of 25 October 2026 (Sharad Purnima), a speeding car hit villagers, mostly women and children, carrying Teshu and Jhanjhi figures for immersion on the Shikohabad-Bateshwar road near Chhatanpur. Five deaths were reported later and alcohol was suspected but not confirmed, as we cover in a case study.
